In one of my last posts, I shared with you the winners of the Elemis Therapist of the Year Awards 2014. The event was held at People by Crystal and although it was a great night, the time I had reviewing the nominated therapists was even greater! I was so glad to be selected by the Elemis Middle East team for the fantastic opportunity.

What I had to do:
Review the nominated body therapists at Cleopatra Spa, The Spa @ Jabel Ali Palm Resort & Spa, Anahata Spa, Anantara Spa and Sensasia Urban Spas. I had two treatments to choose from before making my bookings at each location. The treatments were: Elemis Deep Tissue Massage & Elemis Lime & Ginger Salt Glow.

The treatments:
Elemis Deep Tissue Massage: This body therapy involves a deep rhythmic pressure massage. It alleviates stress, eases aching muscles and revives the senses with dynamic blends of essential oils.

Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow: A body exfoliation ritual designed to invigorate and revitalize the body. After light body brushing, warm oil is dripped all over the body before the sublime Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow is applied. Skin is deeply cleansed and moisturized, leaving it glowing and super soft!

Elemis Frangipani Scrub: At one of the spas, this was the scrub available for me to review. It is similar to the Lime & Ginger Salt Glow however, the product applied is Elemis’ iconic and beautiful Frangipani Scrub.

Alright, let’s get down to the reviews now.

There was a bit of a hiccup with the booking and I ended up reviewing the wrong therapist. Anywho, my therapist’s name was Grace and she was actually fabulous. I opted for the Deep Tissue Massage. It had been ages since I had a massage when I went in for this treatment at Cleopatra’s. I was expecting to relax however, Grace warned me that I would be sore afterwards since it had been a while since my last massage. Cleopatra Spa is a beautiful space of serenity and although I was in a lot of pain after the massage, I thoroughly enjoyed the treatment, especially the heated massage bed. Throughout the treatment, Grace was able to sense whenever I was in a bit of pain and readjusted her techniques to ensure I was comfortable for the duration of the session. Following the 60-minute treatment, I rested with a hot compress on my neck and shoulders in the spa’s gorgeous relaxation lounge.

I sincerely wish I had a full day to relax at the spa – as you can see their hydrotherapy facilities are abound! Oh and the warm ginger tea that was served upon my arrival was delicious! I have to admit, part of the reason I love visiting spas so much is because of the delicious ginger tea they serve and when they don’t, I get a tiny bit disappointed! I visited The Spa @ Jabel Ali Resort & Spa the morning following my deep tissue massage. My appointment was for the Elemis Lime & Ginger Salt Glow with Loreen. Not only is the spa setting drop dead gorgeous but the hotel is too! It’s a beautiful walk from the hotel’s entrance to the spa and the staff was so friendly. Loreen was such a wonderful therapist who ensured that I felt comfortable throughout the scrub treatment. During my consultation with her, she made a note of my needs and what I wished to gain from the treatment which was super soft skin and that is exactly what I got. Yay! She also advised me to stay out of the sun for a while otherwise I would turn into a lobster! Yes, she had a great sense of humor too. :-) Pity tough, because the resort has a beautiful pool and beach facility. Anyway, the relaxation lounge at this spa was my favorite – perhaps because I visited it in the morning. I got to soak in an amazing view while I enjoyed a small platter of fresh fruits and a glass of orange juice.Oh and the robes they provide are super soft and comfy! Anahata Spa – A boutique Spa in Abu Dhabi

The day after my body scrub at Jabel Ali, it was time to make my way to the Capital to try the two nominated spas and therapists from the city of Abu Dhabi. What can I say about Anahata Spa? *hmm* It was so difficult to find! Nestled in the residential area of Khalifa City A, it took me about 20 minutes to locate the place – my friend and I were going in circles…literally! Eventually, we reached the boutique spa with the help from the spa receptionist who I tortured by calling a million times and omg – I instantly felt at home. Salon downstairs, cute decorations and furniture and the treatment rooms were so peaceful! Sujaree, my Thai therapist, who also happens to be the Body Therapist of the Year for 2014 was INCREDIBLE! She greeted me at the entrance with the warmest smile! While heading up the stairs for my Frangipani Scrub, we indulged in a nice little chat session. She’s super friendly! Anyway, what I loved at this spa was that the treatment room had its own bathroom and closets therefore I avoided the hassle of a locker room. I quite enjoyed the privacy at Anahata. My treatment was fabulous – I’ve always been a fan of Elemis Frangipani products. Sujaree was wonderful in her technique. I admired her passion for both her job and the brand. She took the time to listen to my body skincare routine as she was quite fascinated by the softness of my skin. Little did she know that it kinda had something to do with the fact that I had gone in for a scrub the previous day. Hehe. After one visit and one treatment with her, it was clear that she was always looking forward to learning new techniques and treatments that can better her own skill. She even consulted me on my skin and made me promise that if I was ever in the Capital again, to book an appointment for the Elemis Visible Brilliance facial as it would work wonders on my somewhat dry skin. Before exiting the spa, a couple of customers walked in and embraced her with a hug. It was at that moment that I was sold! I wish Anahata Spa was closer to me because I would sure be one of Sujaree’s regulars.

Oh, during the awards ceremony, after Sujaree accepted her award for the Body Therapist of the year, she spotted me sitting in the corner with my boyfriend and omg, the look on her face was PRICELESS! She was like “whaaaatt? – what are you doing here?” Hahaha. She literally ran up to me and hugged me and told me that she had no idea I was a mystery reviewer and how embarrassed she felt after finding out just then! Such a sweetheart. If you live in Abu Dhabi or ever visit the city, do yourself a favor and book yourself an Elemis treatment with Sujaree! I guarantee a relaxing and fun-filled experience thanks to her warm heart. If I ever stay in Abu Dhabi again, the Anantara Hotel will be my first hotel choice! It’s a gorgeous and quiet property – perfect for a weekend getaway. Upon arrival to the spa for my Deep Tissue Massage appointment with Drwari, I realized I was quite early hence the spa hostess escorted me to the cozy relaxation lounge to enjoy my welcome drink which was sadly not ginger & honey :( Anantara Spa, Eastern Mangroves, Abu Dhabi

Anywho, when it was time for my appointment, Drwari came to greet me and showed me to straight the treatment room which was another WIN in my books! No locker rooms and such – yay! She ensured that the room temperature and music settings were good enough for me and we began with the treatment. Since I was still sore from my last Deep Tissue Massage, I asked requested for a light yet firm pressure and she was excellent at it – it was one of the most relaxing yet beneficial massages I have ever received; I even dozed off for about ten minutes – that’s how relaxed I was. She was also very observant – she noticed that I was dehydrated and suffered from water retention. She made it a point to offer be brief advice on my lifestyle. This was the last of my Spa Adventure with Elemis. On an extremely windy Sunday, I made my way to Palm Jumeirah for my Deep Tissue Massage appointment at Sensasia with Patthama. By then, the muscle soreness from the first massage had greatly reduced and I was really looking forward to having more of my muscle knots come undone. Sensasia Urban Spas has always been one of my favorite destinations for complete rejuvenation, although I hadn’t visited the Palm Jumeirah branch till then. I was quite impressed! Patthama, nicknamed Lek was a very friendly therapist that took the time to listen to my needs. her massage technique was incredible and well-suited to what I desired. Throughout the treatment, she would check to see if I was comfortable with the pressure, temperature and music. At the end of the session, she took the time to address some muscle and bone problems that she observed and recommended certain treatments that should be able to help.

Before exiting the spa, I indulged in cucumber sticks and soothing warm tea. It was a great experience and a wonderful location and I am so glad I got the chance to visit it. For more information on the spa, click HERE.

There you have it, my personal reviews of all the spas I mystery reviewed for Elemis Middle East. By the end of it all, every muscle in my body was completely relaxed and I had super soft skin! I would like to thank the team at Elemis once again for allowing be to be a part of this fascinating experience. I am so glad I got to meet all the therapists and realize just why the were nominated – they truly are the best in town!
